What is the American Consumer Council; New York Consumer Council & Los Angeles Consumer Council?

The American Consumer Council (ACC) is a national non-profit consumer education organization established in 1987. The New York Consumer Council (NYCC) and Los Angeles Consumer Council (LACC) are state chapters of ACC. The ACC/NYCC/LACC  serve as an educational resource for consumers who want to do business with companies committed to providing safe, reliable products and services.

How do the ACC/NYCC/LACC Help You?

ACC/NYCC/LACC’s charter mandates it:

  • Educate consumers about the value and worth of reliable consumer products and services;
  • Promote the use of safe consumer products and services that enhance the environment;
  • Promote corporate responsibility with the treatment of consumers; and,
  • Encourage a higher quality of life for all Americans through financial responsibility.

How much does it cost to join the ACC/NYCC/LACC?

There’s no cost to you. Your lifetime membership in the ACC/NYCC/LACC is provided to you compliments of ABE Federal Credit Union as a member benefit to joining our credit union.

What is the connection between the ACC/NYCC/LACC and ABE Federal Credit Union?

ABE Federal Credit Union has formed a cooperative agreement with the ACC/NYCC/LACC. Through this agreement, credit union members will gain access to additional education material to enhance their personal financial planning.  In addition, members of the ACC/NYCC/LACC in the following regions  (New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, Rhode Island, Los Angeles and Ventura counties) are eligible to open accounts and enjoy the many benefits of ABE Federal Credit Union membership.

Do I have to renew my membership in the Council to keep my credit union accounts?

No. As a Lifetime Member, you remain a member of the ACC/NYCC/LACC indefinitely.  It is not necessary to renew your membership.  Also, ABE Federal Credit Union has a “once a member, always a member” policy.

How do I join the ACC/NYCC/LACC and/or the ABE Federal Credit Union?
