About the American Consumer Council and the New York Consumer Council

 ABE Federal Credit Union is proud to be a sponsoring member of the American Consumer Council (ACC) and the New York Consumer Council (NYCC).

What is the American Consumer Council/New York Consumer Council?

The American Consumer Council (ACC) is a national non-profit consumer education organization established in 1987. The New York Consumer Council (NYCC) is a state chapter of ACC. The ACC/NYCC serve as an educational resource for consumers who want to do business with companies committed to providing safe, reliable products and services.

How do the ACC/NYCC Help You?

ACC/NYCC’s charter mandates it:

  • Educate consumers about the value and worth of reliable consumer products and services;
  • Promote the use of safe consumer products and services that enhance the environment;
  • Promote corporate responsibility with the treatment of consumers; and,
  • Encourage a higher quality of life for all Americans through financial responsibility.

How much does it cost to join the ACC/NYCC?

There’s no cost to you. Your lifetime membership in the ACC/NYCC is provided to you compliments of ABE Federal Credit Union as a member benefit to joining our credit union.

What is the connection between the ACC/NYCC and ABE Federal Credit Union?

ABE Federal Credit Union has formed a cooperative agreement with the ACC/NYCC. Through this agreement, credit union members will gain access to additional education material to enhance their personal financial planning.  In addition, members of the ACC/NYCC in the following states  (New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont and Rhode Island) are eligible to open accounts and enjoy the many benefits of ABE Federal Credit Union membership.

Do I have to renew my membership in the Council to keep my credit union accounts?

No. As a Lifetime Member, you remain a member of the ACC/NYCC indefinitely.  It is not necessary to renew your membership.  Also, ABE Federal Credit Union has a “once a member, always a member” policy.

How do I join the ACC/NYCC and/or the ABE Federal Credit Union?

ABE Federal Credit Union members or prospective members located in the states mentioned above are eligible to join the ACC/NYCC. To join the ACC/NYCC visit www.americanconsumercouncil.org and enter the promo code ABEFCU at checkout on the Join Now page.

ACC/NYCC is only provided with your name, address, phone number and email address. Your membership data and information is treated in a confidential, legal and ethical manner. ACC/NYCC does not sell, lease, or lend its membership data to anyone.
